We're full on here at the shop. Automatic pilot type of thing. Hyper-efficiency. 'Do you need that gift-wrapped?' as fine motor skills struggle to make pretty. And despite the weather-at the moment 55 degrees and raining, we really do feel the holiday spirit. Images from a few of our favorite blogs are lending a helping hand too. A new collection of jewelry from Ishi just landed. Besides the rich bead and leather work that we are all so familiar with, this group features a very intricate, and very traditional Oaxacan technique using hand-made and hand-dyed silk threads. The results are beautiful, oppulent, and the perfect hues for Fall.

We're so pleased to be sharing this collection of painted stones by Natasha Newton. Found on the beaches of Suffolk, England, each pebble was chosen for its' color, smoothness, and uniformity. These particular pebbles feature Natasha's organic designs, hand-painted in white acrylic ink. They are protected with a coat of clear matte acrylic and are signed underneath. Alone, or arranged in families, they are graphically soothing. Held in the hand, they are a talisman that just might bring you luck. This collection, painted just for Pod, is limited to 20 pieces.

It's true. Pod is 13 years old today. We didn't plan on doing or saying anything until the lovliest man we know came in yesterday with two boxes brimming with cupcakes from Petsi Pies. We shared the treats with customers who just happened into the shop, many who have been with us for all thirteen years. It actually was one of the nicest birthday's ever. Thank you Miguel.

seven hour tour

That's right folks, a seven hour tour of central MA. Might we say that farm stands were in abundance and we wish we could have stopped at all. Our favorite was in Stow, Honey Pot Hill. Maybe it was the name. Maybe it was the goats and bunnies and chicks and piglets and sheep or hedge maze. We spent a long time with the old gal above and weirdly spent a lot of time warning unattended 3yr olds not to stick their hands in front of a goats' mouths. Peaches were coming in, but blueberries were thick and we gladly swifted some away to make jam (without pectin!) Another fave: the Barre Falls Dam. What a lovely park. They have a course for frisbee golf!! Oh, excuse us, 'disc golf'. Take a road trip if you have the chance.

It's a long time coming, but we're excited to launch our new beeswax candles. They're rather simple--beeswax and 100% essential oil. Yup, that's it. The packaging is minimal, but very intentional. We want you to enjoy the warm glow of natural beeswax. Why folks want to cover this up with a big fat label, we'll never understand. More scents are soon to come.
